Our Eco Team!

May 15, 2008

In our school we have three different teams. The Garden Crew, The Energy Busters And The Lean Mean Litter Fighting Machine.

The Garden Crew collect small brown compost bins every day then empty them into big green compost bin in the wildlife garden. The Garden Crew also water all the plants. We now have a green house in the court-yard which every class planted seeds in a tray.

The Energy Busters recycle paper, cans and bottles. One day a week The Energy Busterscollect the paper bins and the plastic cans and bottles. In the hall we have a blue bin where we put the cans and bottles in. Mr Goodsir (the janitor) collects these and puts them in the big blue container outside where the binmen come and collect it every two weeks. The Energy Busters would have done it but they will be too heavy to carry because we recycle lots. Every week the paper bins are collected by The Energy Busters and put in to a white bag outside Mr Goodsir’s office and he takes them to the blue container because they are too heavy for The Energy Busters to carry.

The Lean Mean Litter Fighting Machinepicks up litter in the playground but we don’t drop it, the litter is from the street because the wind blows it in. Sometimes we find broken glass bottles and they definetely aren’t ours.

That is our three Eco Teams!

P6s went orientering at Callendar Park. The park was split up into sections and each bit had diffrent courses to do. One was round the lake and the other past callender house, anotheer one infront of it and another one behind it. Plus one up in the woods. My favourite course was the one around the lake. There was a little path next to it that was in the trees on the lekt of the lake if you look at it from  the boat platform. We were timed. Scott and Charlie was the quickest. It was on the 13th which was my birthday. We had our lunch on a hill and after that, we got to roll down it. it was fun.

The K-Nex Challenge

April 30, 2008

knex

The whole of p.6. came together to decide who would go to calender park to compete against other schools. So we had to make something to hold a shoe and a rubber. The man that came in to show us how to do it had to make a ramp. You also had to make the shoe and rubber to stay in and not fall off.

knex buggy

It took alot of hard work to try to get the shoe to fit and the rubber to stay in the right place. You got 1 trial and then you had to get judged.

Charlie and Scott won and the runner ups we Kiera ,Courtney and Katlinn.

Sir Hugo the Knight visits P4/3!

April 2, 2008

sir-hugo-visit-034-blog.jpg

Primary 4/3 were visited by a real knight last week called Sir Hugo.  We learned how people hunted food in the Middle Ages and he taught us how to use bows and arrows.  Abby got to wear chain mail and a helmet and she held a sword. She looks liked a proper knight!  My favourite part was when we went outside to shoot bows and arrows.

book-launch-blog-2.jpg

P4/3 had their book launch on Wednesday 19th March.  Lots of mums, dads and friends came to the launch to hear us read our fantastic stories!  Primary 3 and Primary 5 dropped by to hear us read too!  We changed our classroom about and everyone stood behind their books and were asked questions about their stories.  It was fun being an authour and an illustrator.  We even had a fancy purple velvet chair with purple tinsel and read our stories using a microphone!   We put lots of effort into our castle books and it was really great to share our stories with everyone.

As a whole school enterprise, our Pupil and Parent Councils are running an Easter Fun Afternoon on the afternoon of Tuesday 25.03.08. Pupils will be taking part in a Danceathon—dancing The Cha-Cha Slide! Donations of £0.50 to take part would be greatly appreciated. There will also be a range of Easter activities for pupils to join in with, priced at £0.20 each, including Guess the Easter Bunny’s Birthday and a Golden Egg Hunt. Pupils may wear something yellow for this event.
